The story of Alder Mere begins with an old forestry lodge and a family who wanted to keep its doors useful. The building became a modest place to sleep, eat and ask about the paths. The cabins followed as visitors began staying a little longer.

Merefold Valley holds a lake between wooded slopes and open viewpoints. Around the lodge, short routes offer an easy first look at the water. Farther out, the paths become steeper and a little preparation matters. Choose a walk for the group you have, with time to stop and a comfortable margin for the return.
