Surfing carries inherent risk. Instruction can reduce and manage risk; it cannot eliminate it.

Lead coach reviews access, tide, wind, swell, current, water quality, crowding and escape routes.

The group hears the teaching-zone edges, regroup point, stop signal and missing-person response before entry.

Named head counts happen at launch, regroup and full return—not by visual approximation.

Coaches can shorten, relocate, change the activity, keep someone ashore or cancel without a vote.

Participant responsibilities

Give accurate information about swimming ability and experience.
Stay inside the stated zone and respond to coach signals.
Maintain control of the board; do not hold it between yourself and incoming whitewater.
Report collision, pain, breathing difficulty, cold stress or lost equipment immediately.
