The constraint

Foldline Displays is an invented exhibitor preparing a modular stand. Its twelve packed cases total 960 kg and 7.2 cubic metres in this exercise. The stand frame must be available before the printed panels, while a venue delivery slot has not yet been confirmed. The requirement is a sequenced receiving plan, not simply arrival in the destination city.

The proposed handovers

The example uses the authored Valencia–Rotterdam road lane, with three to five calendar days allowed for linehaul after departure. Quay Cross-dock is a fictional point for reviewing the onward delivery sequence. Collection, cross-dock handling and the final venue appointment are outside that lane range. The project service keeps the gate rules and unloading responsibility unresolved.

The receiving document

The proposed cargo list groups the twelve cases by installation stage and retains their individual identifiers. The receiving team would record count and condition before releasing the first-stage pieces. A case that arrives out of sequence does not automatically become a transport failure, but it does need a decision before it obstructs the build area.

The decision left open

The exercise ends with an actionable enquiry: confirm the receiving slot, review access and decide whether the available contingency is sufficient. No delivery took place, no delay reduction was measured and no customer result is claimed. The route preview cannot decide the event plan until the real parties supply the missing information.

Decisions still open.

  • Venue gate and unloading authority
  • Confirmed receiving slot
  • Cross-dock handling arrangement
  • Separate return-lane enquiry
