Landscape designer Sela Orin has started a full-size courtyard planting trial using species suited to shade, reflected light and periodic wind.
The trial compares soil depths and irrigation rates across ferns, grasses and small multi-stem trees. Seating edges are being tested at the same time.
Results will guide the final fictional planting schedule and the care note issued to residents.
