Pulse Studio 8 and Shelf 5 use separate left and right cabinets, while Carry 10 is one larger mains-powered speaker. The source connection and placement distance differ across these systems. Choose a complete signal path and physical layout before interpreting output or woofer size.

Before choosing a model

Studio 8 expects balanced TRS or RCA line input and has no supplied audio interface or input leads. Shelf 5 offers optical and analogue inputs with a smaller cabinet footprint.

Carry 10 has a handle but no battery or microphone mixer. Plan mains routing and a stable position rather than treating it as a complete public-address kit.

Do active speakers need a power amplifier?

Their amplification is built in. They still need mains power and a suitable line or digital source; do not connect another amplifier’s speaker output to their inputs.

Will two cabinets automatically sound balanced?

Placement and gain still matter. Keep the left and right listening distances and surroundings reasonably similar, then test with a familiar source at a moderate level.
